This is a Call for Actors by Space Theatre Ensemble, Goa
The Space Theatre Ensemble, Goa, is a self-sustaining repertory totally committed to evolving an artistic practice that is innovative and socially and politically committed. It now invites applications before 12 noon, April 19th, 2012, to select 5 actors over the age of 18 and below 65 to join them in an intensive residency in Goa, beginning Monday, May 7th, 2012.
The purpose of this residency is to develop a new piece, The Doom of a Thousand Suns, centred on the hazards and dangers of nuclear energy, an its intimate relationship with militarism and violence.
The residency is held on a farm at the foothills of the Western Ghats. Accommodation is clean but basic and may have to be self-constructed by participants. Good food guaranteed. No mobile coverage is available and there is no landline. Farm work and cooking are seen as essential components of the residency, as much as theatre practice.
No auditions are held, and previous theatre experience is not required. Independent physically challenged people may apply. Excellence in English is not mandatory. However, once selected, complete commitment to the production, its schedules and the team, is expected.
